Notting Hill
Challenging planning applications can sometimes use creative thinking, and telling a visual story of a journey through time here seems to have helped planning success.
This was a really satisfying culmination of an intricate planning process, with consent for a new roof level development. We delved into the background of planning policy and it was clear from doing research – via bomb maps, postwar RAF shots, and other historic pics that this was not a complete original terrace, nor had any of the buildings been reconstructed with conservation in mind. This question was one that appeared to be critical to the planning outcome.
It was possible make the case that the proposal has other conservation benefits, which included the reinstatement of long lost historic features alongside additional housing.
We produced around 17 before-and-after visualisations showing a mansard roof change would hardly be noticeable, to get this across the line. But it will be worth it, with great views over london when its done too!
