Director Ivan Henshell worked with a number of award winning studios before founding The Architects. Since then, the practice has been involved in projects throughout the UK, with a focus on London and the South East. His expertise spans a wide range of building types, from conservation to contemporary approaches to design.
People & Places
Creating unique, meaningful and beautiful projects follows the connections made with people and places. As the practice has developed so has the experience in finding solutions tailored to individual situations, from the simple to the complex.
As the practice has grown so has the team. Alexander de Caires, first worked with The Architects in 2015. He has professional experience working at a number of award winning architecture practices as well as a specialism for designing and making timber structures; knowledge he shares with students as associate lecturer at Oxford Brookes University alongside work in practice.
The professional team has a wide-ranging network that supports the many areas of expertise to bring a project to completion: from consultants to individual trades and craftspeople. When it comes to the smooth running of a project, this tried and trusted team are intrinsic to that success – whether measured surveyor, structural engineer, party wall surveyor and others.
Our Approach
We focus on making the design and construction process as smooth and effective as possible, without losing anything in the final product. While building projects can be challenging, we believe in communication and efficiency as vital in ensuring, clients are happy with a project as a whole.
We work closely with clients and design teams to achieve practical, cost-effective solutions with novel ideas and outcomes that suit each project: people and places are more important to us than applying a brand or style. This is perhaps why residential and commercial developers have continued to work with us years after completed work.
