Historic estate – design and consultancy
The residential part of this estate threw up an interesting discovery while carrying out a extension to the hall. The discovery of a dry-moat structure needed quick adaptation of plans to help preserve historically interesting remnants on the site, while still allowing a comfortable garden room extension.
We helped breathe life into the under-used stable block by securing planning and listed building consent for cafe use. This needed to overcome the design challenges of introducing natural light constrained by the original 18th century building, and making best use of other retained interior features,
Other work has included feasibility studies for more wide ranging changes, including increasing office and management space, accessibility improvements alongside possible change of uses.
