Artist’s rural studio

This simple looking building was an early project rooted in landscape of Dartmoor. The arboretum that the workshop was to sit in is densely planted with a variety of trees, within which the process of making art and sculpture was intrinsically linked. This naturally led on to the building wanting to make the most of this setting: 2 large sliding doors – with a smaller door within this – allowed the space to change dramatically according to use and weather conditions. Given its setting, timber was obviously a natural choice for as much of the building as possible!
