Offices rated BREEAM ‘Excellent’
An unused workshop building previously sat on this industrial estate site in Nottinghamshire, with no benefit made of the river and fields beyond. A key move we suggested was to allow the central circulation space to take in this North-South view, while providing break-out space for occcupants of the serviced offices.
Having secured planning permission, we followed up with securing an ʻExcellentʼ rating from BREEAM design and procurement guidelines. This means that the building would have to be an exemplary project in terms of sustainability: passive ventilation, good daylighting, high levels of insulation contribute to this success. Making partial use of existing steel portal frame that formed the previous building was also critical, and minimised construction cost.
